So as we luckily got the chance to get in for free and see one of the most prolific emcees rock the venue at Carnegie hall this past week. We couldn't help but notice that he seemed very refreshed. The venue was pretty much packed and boasted a very diverse crowd as you may have come to expect from an artist as transcending as the Brooklyn Emcee.
Mos kicked off his show with a video monolouge on the proper ways of enjoying watermelon followed by an introduction of his band and newly formed all female string ensemble that he dubbed playfully the "Amino Strain" due to the fact that the name of his complete band is the Amino Alkaline Orchestra.
Mos brought out special guest and legend Gil Scott-Heron and the two went on to trade vocals on many of Herons' classics including an ode to the greatest city in the world and their hometown New York! Later on in the show Mos gave a special shout out to new comer Jay Electronica by performing an acepella version of the second verse from “Act 1: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge)”. Black Dante, as he refers to himself as, also showed his respect for another underground artist MF DOOM by performing DOOM's Madlib produced song ALL CAPS in its entirety.
Mos rapped up the show with a performance of his widely popular song Umi Says and thanked everyone for coming out and urged them to come chill at the afterparty. We didn't get to go to that joint but the concert was mre than dope.
