Mos Def Spits DOOM's Lyrics From Memory:
THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT DOOM HAS A VERY LARGE, THOUGH OBSCURE, FAN BASE. MOS DEF SHOWING HIS AFFINITY FOR DOOM AND HIS LYRICAL ABILITY REINFORCES THE NOTION THAT THERE MAY BE EFFORTS IN TRYING TO GET D. DUMILE TO BREAK INTO THE MORE PUBLIC EYE.

We Love J. Dilla Even MORE...

Straight from ?uesto's (Questlove of the Roots Crew) mouth..er..keyboard:
" Then i was like “yo Pete[Rock] is gonna be fucked up when he hears THIS shit!”
dilla: NONONONONONONONONO!! naw man….you can’t let him hear this man i cant afford that!
?uest: afford what? this shit is a miracle!!
dilla: nah man….like i dont want no tension. that’s my idol i dont wanna give off the impression that im trying to outshine him….
?uest: but dog im saying if you shine then…..
dilla: nah man…."
The man, the legend J.Dilla. The first time we actually got swept up in Dilla's dopeness was around the late 90's when this jewel dropped (Thanks to moms around the country's infatuation with having Janet on repeat in the crib):
Yeah, it was that serious. Q-Tip and fellow triber Ali Shaeed Muhammmad were in the mix too (Tip's live adlibs & Muhammad's engineering.) Might we add that watching this video after Tip released his latest effort The Renaissance...Tip is that dude!
" ?uest: so all this shit i got with samples he’s us—
dilla: yeah man dont let that shit get out man….i just do it for practice….
?uest: wait….so this beat is never going to see the light of day ever? you just made it and lost sweat over it for…..sport?
dilla: yeah man….i just practice……
thank god…..kweli had a cassette which had this beat on it for like 15 secs.
they looped it from the cassette."
The They that ?uesto is referring to are these two incredible wordsmiths:
Rediculous!

Mos Def At Carnegie Hall...

So as we luckily got the chance to get in for free and see one of the most prolific emcees rock the venue at Carnegie hall this past week. We couldn't help but notice that he seemed very refreshed. The venue was pretty much packed and boasted a very diverse crowd as you may have come to expect from an artist as transcending as the Brooklyn Emcee.
Mos kicked off his show with a video monolouge on the proper ways of enjoying watermelon followed by an introduction of his band and newly formed all female string ensemble that he dubbed playfully the "Amino Strain" due to the fact that the name of his complete band is the Amino Alkaline Orchestra.
Mos brought out special guest and legend Gil Scott-Heron and the two went on to trade vocals on many of Herons' classics including an ode to the greatest city in the world and their hometown New York! Later on in the show Mos gave a special shout out to new comer Jay Electronica by performing an acepella version of the second verse from “Act 1: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge)”. Black Dante, as he refers to himself as, also showed his respect for another underground artist MF DOOM by performing DOOM's Madlib produced song ALL CAPS in its entirety.
Mos rapped up the show with a performance of his widely popular song Umi Says and thanked everyone for coming out and urged them to come chill at the afterparty. We didn't get to go to that joint but the concert was mre than dope.
Catch the full gallery of pics from the performance Here over at OKP.
