New Music: Jay Electronica - Exhibit A (Transformations)...

Listen/Download Here. Jay Electronica - Exhibit A (Transformations)

If our readers have been following the Abstract Minds N.Y.C Blog they know how much we're interested in seeing New Orleans Emcee Jay Electronica reach his maximum potential.

Here we have a recently polished record from Jay Elec titled "Exhibit A (Transformations) Prod. by Just Blaze.

It is a really remarkable example of exceptionally well structured Hip-Hop. Jay hasn't disappointed us at any moment.

"Life is like a Dice Game, one roll could land You in Jail or cutting Cake blowing kisses in the Rice Rain"

"I pave ways like Natt and Harriet, I'll blast on Judas Escariot and peel off in the Chariot"

"I got the rap game singing 'At Last' like Etta James, Lames get their planes shot down like John McCain." - Jay Electronica

Jay Electronica Performs Dimethyltryptamine (Live) + More...

Jay Electronica performs some of his crowd favorites during the Rock The Bells venues. Some additional interview footy is spliced inbetween the performances as well.

"Give the location of the blank faced villian, Who split atoms and gives mushrooms to civilians. Hiroshima never recover since all the evidence is smothered under a think cloud of rubber." - Jay Elect

Video: Jay Electronica NY Performance...

The man Jay Electro had a performance here in NY @ the Nokia Theater opening for Mos Def. There are a couple write ups about his performance Here and Here. It seems as if the big qualm is that Jay boasted about how abstract and colorful his live set would be Here but delivered none of that which disappointed the concert goers. It has spiraled into a debate between Jay fans and skeptics of the new comer. Maybe Jay fans and Mos Def fans just do not go hand in hand like they had planned it would...

Jay Electronica - The Cauldron/Colors(Snippet)

Listen Here. Jay Electronica - The Cauldron...

We've told you Here and Here to be on the lookout for new comer Jay Electronica. Many of you have been giving him a try and the feedback and responses have been mixed...to say the least. Personally we'll keep watching and see if he continues his steady buzz gaining rise. Hmm...this track doesn't hit very hard but the lyricism is above average.

Kudos Jay, staying tuned...

URB's Next 100 Cover Shot...

Erykah Badu and Jay Electronica, previous post where we introduced you to him Here, grace the latest cover of URB's magazine.

Inside Jay gives us insight on what a concert from him would be like...it's pretty far-fetched but hey, he's using his imagination.

Introducing: Jay Electronica

“Too many people are touted as ‘a problem,’ or ‘coming to change the game’ in hip-hop, only to wind up as a footnote in the musical landscape. Jay Electronica is different. Maybe that’s the best way to describe him, different. A year ago there weren’t many people who would recognize the name Jay Electronica, but in the last 12 months, the mysterious New Orleans native has created a surprising, internet-based buzz, while still remaining mostly an enigma. From the 20 + tracks of his that infiltrated the net there are collaborations with Guilty Simpson and Mr. Porter, beats by the underrated Nottz as well as the legendary J Dilla (RIP). Yet even with such an impressive roster of collaborators, Jay shines undauntedly…”

...an excerpt from an upcoming article in SHOOK, a hip hop magazine from the UK.

After listening to Jay Electronica's work, we can only say wow. We haven't heard devout and unfiltered lyricism like this since a young Mos Def. Backed by Erykah Badu, Just Blaze and countless others Jay Electronica plans to become a stand alone voice in Hip-Hop music. With a slew of obscure and abstract references in his lyrics he is definately worth a listen...or several.

Check out this IN DEPTH article on Jay's music and lifestyle, as well as what some of his supporters in the industry had to say about the multi-talented Emcee. It was a really great read.

An incomplete track that has been floating around the internet: Here

2008 is looking more and more musically interesting by the minute!
